Tips to help you never miss an important doctor’s visit
Attending all your doctor’s appointments is crucial for managing wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD). Here are a few tips to help keep track of your schedule.
- Keep a master calendar of your appointments. You may see several doctors for different conditions. It can help you keep track of your important medical and eye care appointments if you use one datebook or calendar to store all the information. Be sure to add any new appointments to this master calendar as soon as you schedule them. You may consider hanging the calendar in a place you often see in your home, like on the back of your door or on the refrigerator.
- Share important dates with your caregivers. Ask your loved ones and caregivers to help you keep track by adding your appointments to their calendars as well. If someone comes with you to appointments or provides transportation to the doctor’s office, it’s a good idea to inform them of your appointments early. You can also ask them to set a reminder, so they are sure to be on time.
- Use your appointment diary. There is appointment diary in the back of the wet AMD booklet which you can complete to keep track of your eye appointments. It’s available to download here.
Try to make all your scheduled appointments so that you can manage the progression of your wet AMD. And if you do miss an appointment, try to make a new appointment as soon as possible to stay on track with your treatment schedule.
